Frequently asked questions
How do I light a wish candle?
Write your wish and choose a color; no blessing is required. Each visitor can have one active candle for 7 days. Wishes can contain up to 80 characters and are visible to other visitors.
When is a wish candle removed?
Candles leave the display after 7 days. You can also remove your own candle. Once it expires or is removed, you can light another. Settings may change; follow the information currently shown in the shrine.
What is a featured candle?
The ten candles with the most encouragement are shown on the special central display. They do not appear again on the regular shelves. Each visitor record can send one encouragement per candle, and can undo it.
When is the lantern festival?
On the hour in Korean time, the Wish Star Festival takes place in the courtyard when there are admitted visitors and a nighttime environment. Hours with no visitors are skipped.
How are my nickname and records remembered?
Default names can be shared; personal nicknames must be unique and up to 12 characters. Your browser stores an anonymous visitor key and secret token that connect to your records on the server. This is not a login account: clearing browser storage or using another device may prevent access to your previous records.
How many wish lanterns can I release?
You can release one lantern per hour, up to three per day in Korea Standard Time. The daily count resets at midnight, but the one-hour interval still applies.
Can I put personal information in my wish?
Wishes and nicknames are public to other visitors. Please leave out real names, contact details, addresses and other personal information. This is a space for sharing hopes, and does not guarantee wishes or particular outcomes.
What if I cannot connect?
If a notice appears, wait a little and choose Visit again. If the site itself is unavailable on your first visit, return after the connection is restored.
